Ever meet someone that was so amazing that you couldn’t figure out what made them that way? I had this realization last night after coming home from a student government meeting that one of the members was just amazing, intelligent, funny, passionate, gorgeous…just all around amazing. I think the only fault I can actually find in him is that he is considered a womanizer; not in the Herman Cain way, more in the he’s a college frat boy way.

I mean I am asked almost on a daily basis what I want in a guy, and my reply is always the same: Intelligent, open minded, funny, taller then me, likes animals, well spoken..and he fits all of these things. Sadly like with most guys I’m to shy to actually talk around him and be productive. I get to spend all of next semester working close with him for Student Government which will be a plus. I’ll brush up on my politics and laws over Christmas break.

It could also be I’m just really freaking lonely and too picky when it comes to guys to actually find one…all the ones that hit on me I have nothing in common with and they mostly want sex…is it so wrong of me to be picky?

I had a student government meeting (which is odd) but anyway one of the new kids joined us today. The meeting was about banning smoking on school grounds (as always). Well after the 15 minute meeting I left as did this kid and we walked together since we live in the same dorm building. Well he proceeded to call me a Democrat because I don’t really care for people and care more for animals. Then because I was worried about the pipeline I got called the green party…..I’m not really for any part just who ever I think fits the bill. But then again this kid wanted Cain to win….Some days I really worry about the youth.

The night before her husband’s burial, Katherine Cathey sleeps next to her husband, 2nd Lt. James Cathey, USMC (killed in Iraq), for the last time. Katherine refused to leave the casket, asking to sleep next to his body for the last time. The Marines made a bed for her, tucking in the sheets below the flag. Before falling asleep, she opened her laptop and played songs that reminded her of “Cat”. One of the Marines asked if she wanted them to continue standing watch as she slept. “I think it would be kind of nice if you kept doing it,” she replied. “I think that’s what he would have wanted.”
I can’t decide who is more honorable: the faithful wife lying next to her husband at the very end or the Marines standing guard over them both throughout the night.

Oh that made me cry….

youthiswasted:

Occupy Denver responds to demand by mayor to name a “leader” to negotiate with by electing first such leader at any encampment — a collie named Shelby.

“The decision, one that earned more than the required majority, is both laughable and pointed. Even in a leaderless movement, the fact that many corporations have power over the rights of their human employees has inspired the group to symbolically strike back. Shelby is a leader among men — and a four-pawed iconoclast, depending upon how far you’re willing to take the issue.”

[Editorial aside: Brilliant move - I love this. Our purportedly ‘democratic’ leaders seem unable to deal with an actual participatory democracy. They’ve found it difficult to intimidate crowds and they’re used to bribing individual leaders to get what they want - and this is part of the reason they’re having such difficulty interacting with the #occupy protesters.]
